In today's conditions, when an aging machine and tractor park is observed in animal husbandry, the problem of the effective use of domestic and foreign equipment is particularly acute. In addition, much attention is paid to the problem of improving the quality and reliability of the developed domestic machines and equipment. Requirements for technology are constantly growing as to the quality and range of work and operations performed, increasing reliability and productivity. This leads to an increase in the workload of the machines. On the other hand, an increase in operating time for each unit leads to an increase in failures and, accordingly, the residence time of machinery and equipment under repair, therefore ensuring the reliability of individual parts and assembly units, as well as livestock equipment in the complex, is crucial. With low reliability of machines there is an increase in downtime, defective manufactured products, the cost of maintenance and repair, and consequently, a decrease in productivity and an increase in the cost of production. The annual operating time of the machines and their reliability depend mainly on the conditions and the level of their use and maintenance, which include: the quality of maintenance and repair operations, the qualifications of the maintenance personnel, the state of the production base, and climatic conditions. It is noted that the main quantitative indicators for the economic analysis of the reliability of machines are: the cost of measures to improve reliability, the economic effect of increasing reliability and the payback period of measures to improve reliability. The equations for determining the payback period of measures to improve the reliability and operating costs with increased reliability are given. The conditions for the economic feasibility of work to improve the level of reliability are determined.
