Dissertation Research

In 1985, he defended his Candidate of Technical Sciences dissertation entitled Research and Improvement of the Operating Process of a Self-Propelled Root Crop Harvester.

In 1993, he defended his Doctor of Technical Sciences dissertation entitled Improvement of the Technological Process and Machinery for Harvesting Beet Roots.

In 1995, he was awarded the academic title of Professor. From 1995 to 2001, he served as a member of the Expert Council for Sectoral Mechanical Engineering of the Higher Attestation Commission of Ukraine.

Research Interests

Among the many achievements of Academician V. M. Bulgakov are more than 200 scientific articles published in foreign journals, 650 inventor’s certificates and patents, 9 monographs, and 29 textbooks and teaching manuals. Under his academic supervision, six Doctors of Technical Sciences and twelve Candidates of Technical Sciences successfully defended their dissertations.

The scientific achievements of V. M. Bulgakov have received recognition both in Ukraine and abroad. Since 2000, he has been a member of the Commission on Mechanisation and Power Engineering of the Lublin Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences (Komisja Motoryzacji i Energetyki Rolnictwa O.L. PAN). He is an Honorary Doctor of the Latvia University of Agriculture and an Honorary Professor of Tavria State Agrotechnological University, Petro Vasylenko Kharkiv National Technical University of Agriculture, and the Central Ukrainian National Technical University.

He has been awarded the Order of Merit, Third Class (2020), the Excellent in Education of Ukraine badge of the Ministry of Education and Science (2005), the Badge of Honour labour distinction of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine (2007), the honorary distinction of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine, as well as honorary diplomas from the Presidium of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences of Ukraine and the Lublin Branch of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and honorary diplomas from the agricultural universities of Lublin, Lithuania, and Slovakia.
